Curb bits - Kimblewick-bit

I become more and more fond of this bit. It is as easy to ride with as a snaffle but has the same advantages as a curb bit. It does not slide up against the teeth. Instead it turns forward down in the horse's mouth. Thus, it is steadier than a snaffle and more comfortable for the horse.

In woods and fields, it is easier to handle than a curb bit and work satisfactory at dressage for those who are not happy with double reins. With the short "shanks", it has not the same form-giving function as curb bit.

The bit should be used with curb chain.
