Hallo,

Brow band for regular headstall

January 18, 2017

I am interested in purchasing a regular headstall for a bit. I see that the hackamore headstall comes with an attractive browband but the plain headstall does not. Is it possible to purchase a brow band separately? I don't see that as an option in your listings. Thank you.

difference between baroque and kaupres hackamore

January 16, 2017
Hello Marcus! Beautiful shop you have here, and I love your take on riding....I may very well be your new biggest fan! I have been looking for a bit less solution for my light and responsive TB, but she raced, and sometimes thinks she is still at the track! Not fun in a caveson! I think your cavemores are exactly what I need! I was wondering about the difference in the action of the Kaupres and Baroque styles. It seems that the former would take ahold of the chin first because of the angle of the shank. Is that so? Also wondering if y... Read more

The hackamore strength

by Markus  January 4, 2017

We learn that the strength of a curb bit depends on the length relations between the upper and lower shank. This is true for curb bits as the rein is attached at the bottom and the curb chain in the top. For hackamores this is not the case because none of the affected straps are attached in the upper shank.

Instead, we have to look at the three points that will be charged when we stretch a hackamore rein. There is of course the bottom of the shank where the rein attaches, but also the two points where the nose- and curb str... Read more

Brass flower

July 19, 2016

I read your statement about brass being a softer metal. The disclaimer says that such equipment should be used only occasionally. How much of a concern is this? The flower is the key part of the bitless bridle. Will it hold up?

Thanks,

Ellen

Can you recommend an alternative please if you think this bit wouldn't be suitable. Thank you

Cavesson Sizing

November 26, 2015

Greetings, I am interested in buying a cavesson for in hand work for three horses: two which wear a cob size (half Arab & Hungarian) and one who wears a full (Lusitano/Quarter Horse). My question:  Is the actual metal nosepiece in the cob size cavesson the same size as the full?  If the difference in the circumference is only in the leather, than the full size could have holes punched to downsize the fit... Or is the metal plate bigger?

ME Schooler saddle

by Markus  November 27, 2015

Hello

Both of my horses loved your saddle. My mare, especially as she is highly trained in the art of Marialva (Portuguese classical riding). She is very senstive to the aides and has a very strong back.  She loved the saddle..it was almost like riding bareback in that she was that responsive to my seat aides. I could tell right away when saddling her how much happier she was...with my old saddle, she would stomp and look miserable when being saddled up..this time she just stood peacefully..even when I adjusted things....
