Kimblewick-bit
I become more and more fond of this bit. It is as easy to ride with as a snaffle but has the same advantages as a curb bit. It does not slide up against the teeth. Instead it turns forward down in the horse's mouth. Thus, it is steadier than a snaffle and more comfortable for the horse.
In woods and fields, it is easier to handle than a curb bit and work satisfactory at dressage for those who are not happy with double reins. With the short "shanks", it has not the same form-giving function as curb bit.
The bit should be used with curb chain. Hooks are supplied loose so you can choose to put them either in the appropriate hole or, as I prefer, in the rings for the side pieces.
